Yesterday was 5th anniversary of Toše Proeski's early and tragic death in car accident. Balkans lost one of it's most talented singers, who managed to unite Balkans with his music, so to say.

This reminds me Kyu Sakamoto (10 December 1941 -- 12 August 1985) and this beautiful song. He died in a plane crash.

Hi, Yozilla. About "Gangs":
What is it that they are expressing with these short songs "A cappella "?
These attitudes and songs resemble of the "Yaqui" and "Mayo" tribes here in Sonora. I remember what I read in one of Gurdjieff's book: his father met to improvise and compose poetry and story various and thus enhance memory. Like you said:Is an heritage of ancient times.

Well most of them are rather humorous and sometimes a kind of kinky (erotic themes) depending what bunch of pranksters ;) did it came from. It is also a way of competition between groups of shepherds usually from different houses/families, especially when girls are somewhere there.. Also, there are Girls' Gangas teams with their themes love, family, marriage...
Some are depicting situations from animal life (donkey resisting wolves, bears...) and some with historical background.... Very wide array of motifs indeed - and they are not commercialized yet so people are singing them from their hart, so to say!
